Technical Requirements for Your Migration to Microsoft

To ensure a smooth transition to Microsoft Exchange using MigrationEngine, make sure to meet the following technical requirements

Network Communication

Establish network communication between the MigrationEngine Server and the Exchange Server, ensuring firewall permissions are configured appropriately.

User Permissions

Create function (service) users in Active Directory/Exchange Admin Centre with the Application Impersonation role. This ensures access to all Exchange mailboxes, a crucial step for a successful migration.

Re-encryption Setup

If opting for re-encryption with S/MIME, ensure that the certificates are available either on an LDAP server or as local files in .crt format. The MigrationEngine server should have access to the LDAP server to read the required certificates.

Decryption Planning

Plan the decryption type by referring to Chapter 10 of the documentation. Understanding and configuring decryption settings are essential for handling encrypted emails during the migration process.

Policy Adjustments

Policies on the target Exchange system may need adjustments. For instance, consider modifying or temporarily disabling Throttling Policy to optimize the migration process and avoid potential bottlenecks.
