As a regional energy provider, Harz Energie GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for supplying electricity, natural gas, and drinking water to over 290,000 people in the Harz, Harzvorland, and Eichsfeld regions. As part of a transformation program, the energy provider decided to replace its long-standing HCL Domino mail environment with a modern, cloud-based Microsoft 365 solution.

INITIAL SITUATION & CHALLENGE

From HCL Domino to Microsoft 365 – Modernizing an Evolving Infrastructure

For years, Harz Energie had been operating an established HCL Domino email environment that served as the communication backbone for approximately 400 employees. With the strategic decision to migrate to the cloud, the company needed a competent partner who could not only ensure the technical migration but also address individual requirements and provide a transparent overview of the entire infrastructure.

THE SOLUTION

BCC Cloud Migration Service: Structured, Phased, and Customized

At the start of the migration project, Harz Energie’s infrastructure was systematically mapped using the BCC Analyzer to gain transparency regarding data, users, and email accounts. This in-depth analysis formed the basis for a customized migration strategy.

Once the analysis was complete, the nearly 400 users were migrated in several phases using the BCC Cloud Migration Service, allowing Harz Energie employees to transition to Microsoft Cloud services gradually and without disrupting daily operations.

NEXT STEPS

Expanding Microsoft 365 Adoption

With the successful email migration, the foundation has been laid for a more comprehensive use of the Microsoft 365 platform. Harz Energie can now leverage additional services such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive to further digitize and modernize internal collaboration.
